“Dream a Little Dream of Me,” first recorded by Ozzie Nelson in 1931 and popularized by Ella Fitzgerald and Doris Day, is a relaxing melody that flows together beautifully with memorable lines such as “stars fading but I linger on dear” and “night breezes seem to whisper ‘I love you.’”
Jennifer Pisarcik says about the song, “I feel like sometimes music can transport us and that was one of the songs that kind of just puts you into this relaxing and no worries type of state.” Her video for the song also showcases her love for the vintage clothing and hairstyles of the ‘30s and ‘40s.
Pisarcik moved to Waco to attend Baylor University after transferring from Tyler Junior College, and following her time at Baylor, she also attended McLennan Community College (MCC). She currently lives right outside Waco and often performs around town at venues such as Southern Roots Brewing, Magnolia Press, and Walk On’s. MCC music professor Jon Fox frequently accompanies her on guitar.
“I thought to myself, I have been singing for a long time, and I love to perform, I love to sing, I love to create, and I started to really dig into performing and traveling and writing,” says Pisarcik. “I gave Jon a call and said is there anyone that you could suggest to play gigs with me, and he said, ‘Yeah, me.’”
She also writes songs and travels to Nashville once a month to work on her own music and collaborate with other writers. One of her projects there is an original song titled “Hummingbird.”
“It was really hard for me to try and pinpoint who I was as an artist, and with this last song I just recorded in Nashville, I feel like that was me,” says Pisarcik. “I am really excited about releasing it in the future.”
Pisarcik and Fox play the Blue Dog Wine and Martini Bar on Friday, September 24, and have multiple shows in October:
- October 7 – Walk On’s (5:30 – 9:30 pm)
- October 8 – Baylor Club (5:30 – 8 pm)
- October 14 – Stay Classy Waco (7 – 10 pm)
- October 15 – Brew at the Zoo (5 – 8 pm)
