Sacred Harp Sing
February 11 @ 9:30 am - 3:00 pm
Free
Sacred Harp singing is so named after the shape-note tune book Sacred Harp, first published by B. F. White and E. J. King in 1844. Much of the music in this book consists of folk hymns that were passed down orally for many years before being written down; among the familiar tunes are those for “Amazing grace, how sweet the sound,” “Brethren, we have met to worship,” and “What wondrous love is this.” Participants will be able to borrow a copy of the Sacred Harp at the meeting.
